Dillon Dobermans at Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Club Specialties

We are very pleased to have shown four Dillon Dobermans in the Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Club Specialties recently at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, GA.  There were 5 shows in 4 days.  The two shows on Sunday were prestigious events known as Specialties.

Every day brought something different but Dillon Dobermans were never out of the ribbons.  Three puppies from my Ruger X Wiley litter and Zeus were entered in these shows. These puppies were in the 9-12 Month classes.  Zeus showed in Best Of Breed competition.

Blackjack's N Dillon's Steel Blue Lightning "Boomer" finished his championship at these shows with two Major awards on Sunday at the Specialties.  Elizabeth Monroe Barrett handled Boomer to his 3rd Major during the first show.

Boomer

Dillon's Eye Of The Storm "Ali" placed first in a very competitive class of 8.  Ali was handled by her owner in this class.

Blackjack's Angel Eyes "Indi" placed first and Reserve Winner at these shows.

Puppies due May 2, 2014 Zeus X Wiley Litter

The last few months have gone by so fast but waiting time for puppies to be born seems to go by slow.  Zeus has been bred to Wiley.  The litter is due May 2nd.  Wiley is looking very matronly already.  That is a good sign.
The pedigree is GCH Dillon's Zipper Ripper X Dillon's Stroke Of Midnight.

"The Nut Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree"

The saying goes, "The nut doesn't fall far from the tree."  Here are some recent pictures in the breed ring of the puppies from my Ruger X Wiley litter.  These pups are coming up on 8 months old.  They are so similar to Wiley, their dame, Dillon's Stroke Of Midnight.  These puppies inherited the good points of both their sire and dame.  A link to their pedigree is here:

These pictures are of Boomer and Indi.  In a few weeks there will be pictures of Colt and Ali as they pursue their show careers also.

I am so happy and proud that these puppies are in homes that not only love them but are willing to go down the show ring road too.

Find A New Activity For You and Your Dog

There are lots of things to do after the breed ring competition has come and gone.  Just because you have reached the goal of AKC Champion and Grand Champion, Rally Excellent, and Working Aptitude Certificate doesn't mean you have to stay home and go stale.
This is GCH Dillon's Midnight Rambler ROM a.k.a. Rambo with his owner/handler/trainer Barbara Moyer. They are training and competing in K9 Freestyle. This is a little peek at one of their routines performed to the song "I Love Paris" by Frank Sinatra.

Thank You to The Owner/Handlers

Reflecting on the past few weeks; I have to say "thank you" to three owner/handlers who are starting their puppy's show career. All three of them took Reserve to some very nice dogs on their first time out from the 6-9 Puppy Class. Colt, Boomer, and Ali are from CH Blackjack's Red Sword of Camelot X Dillon's Stroke of Midnight (Ruger X Wiley). I am so fortunate to have them in committed show homes. I will always support, encourage and advise an owner/handler if they show the desire to Do It Yourself. If they want to jump off that cliff I will jump with them!
Handling your own dog in the Doberman breed ring is not for the faint of heart but it can be a most rewarding hobby if you start out with the right puppy and work at it.   It's important to tell your breeder from the very beginning what your intentions are because it makes a difference in the puppy chosen for you and by you.  An Owner/Handler has an advantage over some of the professionals when the dog they are showing is a superior specimen of the breed.
These three special people are up to the task. Thank you Lou, Jayne, and Ray! Zeus wishes all the luck to his little buddies!

Welcome 2014! Looking Ahead

We said good bye to 2013 by burning the calendar!  The year was full of ups and downs for all of us.  The major "up" is the fact that all the puppies from my Ruger X Wiley Litter born on June 7th 2013 are doing spectacular.  I am so fortunate to have 4 of them in homes who are pursuing the show ring.  One of them already has two points earned on her first weekend out at the age of just 6 months.
Once again I have been reminded that all things happen for a reason.  I was expecting puppies on December 7th but I became suspicious that the breeding did not take along about the 3rd week of November.  There were no puppies.  I was very sad about this but now I understand the reason.
Late in October I had injured my knee while riding my horse.  Little did I know at that time I would end up in surgery on December 16th to repair a completely torn ACL and meniscus.  As I sit here typing this my leg is in a brace from ankle to hip.
How could I handle a litter of puppies and a leg brace?  Answer to that question is the Forces That Are Larger Than Us took care of it.

Looking ahead to blue skies and happy trails.  Happy New Year to all!!
