Autumn in Alabama

Autumn in Alabama is a time for enjoying the outdoors.  Sun is pleasantly warm, humidity is pleasantly low, days are getting shorter.  Even a rainy day is a welcome event after a hot summer.  Cory loves this time of year.

Boomer Is A Real Working Dog

GCH Blackjack's N Dillon's Steel Blue Lightning, ROM, OA, OAJ a/k/a BOOMER, the little blue man from the Storm litter, out of CH Blackjack's Red Sword of Camelot X Dillon's Stroke of Midnight, now has his BH title, the first level Schutzhund title as of this weekend.  The Black River IPO Club Trial in Angier, NC hosted trial.  Lots of great teams to watch, great time and lots of training to do.  Jayne Isbell owns, trains, and handles Boomer in these working dog events. They had an awesome time.  Boomer and  Jayne participated in a seminar for Tracking on Sunday.  The report is that Boomer's nose did not fail to impress the instructors.  He did a great job tracking at the seminar on Sunday!!

Chattanooga TN Weekend Fun With A New Title

It was a tailgate kind of weekend in Chattanooga TN on September 12 and 13th.   Doberman friends Lou Griffin, Elizabeth Barrett and I decided to try Lure Coursing with Dobermans.  I've seen it done many times before with other dogs who are considered "sight hounds".  The contestants have to run 600 yards in under 2 minutes chasing a plastic bag on a string.  The course is predetermined and the same for all contestants.  Three successful runs earns a Coursing Ability Title from the AKC.
Congratulations to Dillon's Eye Of The Storm "Ali" on her new Coursing Ability title. Great job Lou Griffin. GCH Dillon's Zipper Ripper CD CGC ROM "Zeus" played the chase game too! Ali has him hands down on style but it sure is a pleasure to watch him stretch those legs and chase that "bunny".

It's Hard to Lose Them No Matter What Age

On June 26, 2015, we lost Rambo. It was the evening before his Canine Freestyle Dance event in Beltsville, MD.  Rambo layed down and died with his owner at his side.

On September 26, 2009, we lost Harly.  He was competing in an Agility trial when he was taken from his owner's arms.

Their deaths were swift and sudden but the emotional impact is there forever like the pawprint we always refer to on our hearts.

In memory and honor of Rambo (GCH Dillon's Midnight Rambler ROM) and Harly (CH Dillon's Bet Your Bottom Dollar ROM) a fund has been created with the AKC Canine Health Foundation. These two beautiful strong dogs managed to live only one heartbeat away from death while making their owners happy every day. They both left us in the blink of an eye due to a hemangiosarcoma in their heart.

Please take a moment to look at the information page and make any amount of donation. We have a goal of $1000 to be earmarked for Oncology-Hemangiosarcoma.
