My Mom always has something inspirational to say to me. Today we were talking about what a great weekend Zeus had in Biloxi, MS. Zeus (CH Dillon's Zipper Ripper) had his first experience with a professional handler in the ring.
I came down with a severe head cold and realized I couldn't show Zeus on Saturday and Sunday at the Mobile KC shows. I sought the help of a pro handler, Teresa Nail, who was not showing any Dobermans at the present time. I've been acquainted with Teresa and Ray for a few years. They have always been so positive and complimented me or gave me constructive criticism on my dogs. I felt comfortable with Teresa's knowledge and reputation in the Doberman world. I didn't want Zeus to miss any chances at winning just because I was fighting a head cold and fever.
Well, Teresa made Zeus look so handsome I could hardly believe that was my dog out there. On Sunday he won Best Of Breed and went on to capture a Working Group 3 win. That is only 2 steps away from competing for Best In Show. I sat ring side watching Zeus and Teresa and thought how lucky I am to have bred this dog. I have his owners to thank for the great foundation they gave Zeus to start his show career. Now it's time to let the pros see how far he can go.
My Mom said "It's like having a kid, you raise them to be the best, and when they
are, you have to let them go on to the next stage of their lives. But,
how proud you can be!"
