2012 DPCA Nationals are wrapped up for the year

We got home from the 2012 DPCA Nationals in Fort Mitchell, KY yesterday around 3PM. Easy trip all the way home. Let me say a special thank you to my sister, Diane Sackett, for making the trip and bringing my folks to see Ch Dillon's Zipper Ripper (Zeus) being shown in the most prestigeous Doberman event of the year.
The Friday Night Fundraiser was so much fun for all of us.  The Project Runway theme was a great way for us to test our creativity and raise money for two worthy causes, health research and rescue for the Doberman Pinscher.  One of the teams raised over $500 alone.
Thank you Jocelyn Mullins for coming over to our table and saying a personal hello to my Mom who is a FiFi fan and for the personal invitation to come and meet her.
Zeus got to strut his doggy stuff in the big ring with Teresa Nail on Saturday. I think we all held our breath for the whole time he was in the ring.  He made the first cut in his group of 15.  Beyond that were 2 more rounds of elimination.  We all new FiFi was the winner. The bar has been set very high for us now.
That afternoon we took a little drive down the road to the Kentucky Horse Park. On our walk around the park we came to the antique horse drawn machinery exhibit. While we stood in the shed my Dad told us about horses and machinery from his childhood. That is a special memory for me.
After supper Zeus was blowing off a little steam back in the room.  He was celebrating the last day of the Nationals at a "BYOR" party.  That's "Bring Your Own Rag".  Diane and I were in stitches watching him shake that thing with a vengance.
I hope to hear from or see all the new friends and old friends again down the dog show road soon. I would rather say "remember when" instead of "wish I would have".
